ANA KADUNA GETS NEW LEADERSHIP

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) on Saturday elected a new Chairman alongside other State officers to lead the Association for the next two years under a keenly contested and peaceful state convention of the literary body held at the conference hall of the African Institute of Leadership and Good Governance, Kaduna.

The election was ardently observed by the representative of the National EXCO of the association, Taiwo Matthew, who is currently serving as the National Auditor of the association.

ANA Kaduna election which ushered in Stephen Adinoyi as Chairman of the chapter was peacefully and transparently conducted by the trio of Malama Hassana Suleiman, Lola Adeyeye and Chris E. Oginni.

The Elected state officers include, Stephen Adinoyi as Chairman, Mustapha Suleiman as Vice chairman, Judith Gabriel as Secretary, Joy Chima as Assistant Secretary, Shehu Badamasi as PRO and Favour Barde Williams as Financial Secretary.

Before the election proper, a talk shop was held, titled: 'No great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness'. Also, a member in person of Ero Oginni, presented an intriguing poem titled 'IF HE'S GOD'.

Speaking at the event, Taiwo Matthew ANA National Auditor congratulated both the winners and losers and charged them to work together for the wellbeing of the association in the state.

In the light of this, the Chairman-elect; Stephen Adinoyi and his team are optimistic to rejuvenate the potentiality and significance of literary practice in Kaduna.

Stephen Adinoyi is a poet, lyricist, play writer, prose writer and a scriptwriter. He is former caretaker committee chairman of ANA Kaduna chapter, the former vice chairman of the Association of Nigerian Author, Kaduna chapter; and the former Chairman of the Kaduna Writers League.

His Poem, Seoul, won the first prize(The ambassador special prize) during the 2016 edition of the Korean/Nigeria Poetry Festival and the commemoration of World Poetry Day in Abuja.

In 2020, his poem, Divine Slavery, won the first prize for the Ibua Journal's Parklight Series Poetry Competition. Also In 2020, his short story, Wild Wild South, won the second prize for the Ibua Journal's Parklight Series short story Competition.

In 2014, he was a resident writer at the Ebedi Writer Residence in Oyo state, Nigeria.

He has a published novel called Teen of Fifteen. Published in 2017 and republished in 2020.

His pidgin play called A No Beta Pas Mai Nebor was staged in Abuja in 2013. His pidgin poem, Kros Ova was anthologised in a collection of pidgin poem called If Yu Hie Se A De Prison.

His works have been published in newspapers like: The Sun, Daily Trust. New Nigeria Newspapers, Desert Herald, Kaduna Chronicle and Christendom magazine. And in reviews: ANA Review, Ebedi Reviews, and in online international writing Journals like: Ibua Journal, Parousia, Fanstory.com, Writing.com, and yahoo contributed network etc.

He is also published in anthologies of poems like: After The Curfew, Fireflies, Weaver Anthology, Wushapa: Beating The Drum of Peace, For Ikeogu, For Poetry, and From Here to There.
