ANA National Executive Council (NEC) Dissolves ANA Bayelsa EXCO, Sets up Caretaker Committee

  ANA NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (NEC) DISSOLVES ANA BAYELSA EXCO AND SETS UP CARETAKER COMMITTEE

Recall that sometime in March 2020, a dissident group fraudulently attempted to assume executive power of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA). That attempt naturally failed flat. Those involved in that crooked move were suspended from the Association as part of a written rebuke by ANA Board of Trustees and endorsed by Congress. Dr. Akpos Adesi, the then serving Chairman of ANA Bayelsa State Chapter, was among those suspended. This sordid involvement of a sitting ANA Bayelsa Chairman is unfortunately out of touch with the Branch’s known progressive and patriotic character.

 

Worse still the said Dr. Adesi has continued to lead his EXCO on the path of perdition even with the landmark ruling by a law court of competent jurisdiction against the dissident group he has been inordinately following. The result is a complete disconnection of the once enviable ANA Bayelsa State Chapter from ANA National body. The hunger of well-meaning ANA Bayelsa members to reconnect with the national body was once again demonstrated by a powerful delegation of concerned ANA Bayelsa members (including three past chairmen) that attended the last ANA National Convention held in Ilorin, Kwara State, 2020.

 

No responsible National Executive Council (NEC) of ANA will sit down and watch a once luxuriant branch of the body dry up because of the mad ambition of an incorrigible few. To save our dear ANA Bayelsa from the burden of irrational dissidence, the National Executive Council of ANA is compelled to move as follows:

1. The ANA Bayelsa State Chapter Executive Council led by Dr. Akpos Adesi is forthwith dissolved.

2. A Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of ANA Bayelsa State Chapter until a new EXCO is elected is hereby constituted as follows:

1. Barr. Murphy Biriabebe - Chairman

2. Mrs. Tarikiye Angaye -Member

3. Opusam Ete -Member

4. Mrs. Rosemary Jerry -Member

 

We wish the Caretaker Committee a fruitful tenure.
