ANA TO PUBLICLY UNVEIL MEMBERSHIP DATABASE TO MEMBERS DURING THE 39TH INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
The Camillus Ukah-led National Executive Council has concluded plans to publicly display and present the electronic database developed, collated and designed by the administration of his predecessor for members to be informed on the membership capacities and spread of the association during the 39th International Convention of the Association which will be holding in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
Following the series of attempts made by the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) over the years to develop a membership database directory, the immediate past administration of Mallam Denja Abdulahi’s presidency made it one of its priority projects on coming on board in November, 2015. The creation of the ANA membership database is under Programme 3: Membership Services and Development of the ANA Strategic Plan(2017-2022) document that was launched in 2016.
The project has gone through some phases in the last four years culminating in the nationwide distribution of the membership database forms to ANA chapters for members to fill and return for uploading into the prototype membership database being developed. Twenty one (21) Chapters of the Association complied at various times with the directive on database development from the National Secretariat.
The information supplied by the said chapters from the filled forms returned has been used by the firm engaged by ANA for the database development, Hifamous Concept and Technologies, to develop a database which captured a total number of 551 persons from 21 chapters. The database is arranged in JPEG, PDF and DBMS formats with members captured under their chapters and assigned unique ID numbers alongside their photos and other relevant information.
The database as it is now, though still provisional, will soon be hosted on the website of the Association with access granted to only authorized persons from both the National Executive Council and State chapters. When fully developed and functional the database will be useful in streamlining administrative issues and will be of great importance in the membership development, services and mobilization issues of the Association.
The database is one of the legacy projects that the Denja Abdullahi-led National Executive Council of ANA passed on to the Camillus Ukah-led National Executive Council and will be publicly presented and showcased during the 39th International Convention of the Association in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
Camillus Ukah-led National Executive Council will further work on and fine-tune for the greater functionality of the Association with respect to its membership capacities and spread.
