ANA Bauchi set to host ANA @ 40 nationwide 10-Cities Celebration

The train of the ANA@40 nationwide 10-Cities Celebration will be berthing in Bauchi, North- East of Nigeria, come 13-14 October 2021, when the Association in collaboration with the Department of Leisure and Tourism Management, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, will hold a workshop on "Literary Tourism Through Creative Writing for Tourism Education in Nigeria." The workshop, to be facilitated by resource persons from the Association and staffs of the Department of Leisure and Tourism Management of the Federal Polytechnic, is designed for about 50 selected students and will involve literary tourism, focused paper presentations and a field trip to literary tourism sites and monuments in Bauchi City.

Part of the broad objectives of the workshop is to awaken interest in a much neglected aspect of tourism, which is literary tourism, and to inculcate in the participants the skills of creative writing for the purpose of promoting tourism.

The workshop is holding with the backdrop of the fact that Bauchi town in particular was home to and still contains the relics and sites of three prominent Nigerian writers who played significant roles in the nation's evolution into a nation- state. These are: Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (Nigeria's Independence Prime Minister and Author of the novel "Shaihu Umar"), Sa'adu Zungur( foremost nationalist and popular poet) and Dr. Ibrahim Tahir (academic, politician and author of" The Last Imam").

The workshop is expected to reawaken interest in the works of these great writers and many others, and to celebrate the locale that inspired their creativity.
