Maiwada’s latest diatribe: Beating the ground where the snake has already passed

MAIWADA’S LATEST DIATRIBE: BEATING THE GROUND WHERE THE SNAKE HAS ALREADY PASSED

The National Executive Council of the Association of Nigerian authors (ANA) today ended a marathon interactive session with KORLIE-MOBS VENTURES LIMITED (KMVL), at ANA secretariat in Mpape Abuja. The fruitful, successful meeting, was about to start when a tall lanky fellow who looked like he would break into two in the next minute, drove into ANA land in  Commando style. He stepped out with two other men and banged the car door in anger. He took one left foot after another left foot and approached the secretariat like the land-hungry Pahom in Leo Tolstoy “How much land does a man need?” brandishing a bunch of keys, he yelled“ I am the president, you can’t enter my land.” The two elderly men with him identified themselves as court bailiffs on an assignment. They displayed  a court notice obtained in March this year to stop ANA election while the lanky Maiwada stood at his full height and began to shout himself horse scattering a group of pigeons in peaceful nestling  “ I am the president, you can’t  enter my secretariat.” He kept shouting like a demented man.

The Legal Adviser Barrister Benjamin Tor-lafia quickly stood Maiwada and his company down, and politely gave the older lawyer the things that belonged to him including how he shot himself in the leg by causing the court-officials with him to ignorantly bring a document that has been overtaken by events,  saying his actions amounts to beating the ground where the snake has already passed as elections has already been lost and won while a valid National Executive Council led by Dr Camillus Ukah has taken over ANA affairs. He advised Maiwada to bring a court injunction to stop the meeting if he is convinced that he had the powers to do so.

Meanwhile the interaction with KMVL’s Manager continued. As the interaction with the developer was getting to an end, lanky self-acclaimed president returned this time with a Jonathan Swift’s Man- mountain police man, the kind a driver sees from afar and quickly extend his white paper through his car window to avoid been bullied on the road. The Man- Mountain identified himself, smiling from ear to ear like a fat toad “the DPO wan see una.” Unruffled, ANA President, Mr Camillus Ukah ordered the Man-mountain to sit outside and wait for the meeting to finish, so that he can follow him to see the DPO.

At the Mpape Police Station, the DPO listened to Maiwada and to Camillus Ukah, as well as the Legal Adviser, BentexTorlafia and concluded that he and his men are more concerned with fighting insecurity in his area and that intellectuals should use their association’s internal mechanisms or the courts to resolve their issues. Maiwada stood speechless like a dead lion, and as the ANA authentic leaders started leaving the DPO’s office, mournful words started dropping  from Maida’s mouth as if from a tree overburdened with fruits “DPO, are you allowing them to go just like that?”
