ANA Demands Ex-Edo’s Chairman probe over alleged financial misappropriation and extortion of money from Edo Politicians

 

ANA DEMANDS EX-EDO’S CHAIRMAN PROBE OVER ALLEGED FINANCIAL MISAPPROPRIATION AND EXTORTION OF MONEY FROM EDO POLITICIANS

 

The National arm of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has called on the newly constituted Edo Caretaker Executive Committee to probe the immediate past Executive Committee of the Association over alleged financial misappropriation and deceitful extortion of money from politicians in the name of the Association for the forthcoming Edo Governorship election.
The statement also asked the newly constituted ANA Edo Caretaker Committee to look into the financial records of the Association in the state which some ANA Edo members alleged is shrouded in secrecy since the inception of Goodluck Osama Ogbeide’s ANA Edo leadership about four years ago.

In a press statement issued and signed by the National publicity secretary (South) of the Association, Wole Adedoyin, indicting the immediate past Chairman and his entire executive had necessitated the call for the detailed investigations into how money gotten from Gov. Godwin Obaseki led political administration was spent on her annual literary reading campaigns in Edo State.

Goodluck Osama Ogbeide, the statement argued, had lost all moral rectitude to preside over ANA Edo as its chairman following his brazen open campaign on the social media and elsewhere for the re-election of Governor Obaseki. This is against ANA's apolitical stance as an Association which Goodluck Osama Ogbedie has serially violated with his dragging the name of ANA into the murky waters of Edo politics. This has been further heightened by his alleged financial misappropriation and extortion of money from politicians for the forthcoming Edo governorship election.

In one of the complaints received, it compelled the national arm of the Association to get the Chapter’s account audited and to probe the finances of the Association in the past four years which they claimed has been a “one man show” by the immediate past Chairman.
The statement finally recalled how the National arm of the Association had received different complaints by some members of ANA Edo which raised certain integrity issues against the former Chairman. The Camillus Ukah's led ANA administration is resolute in its commitment to purge the Association of some serious organizational anomalies noticed in some chapters of the Association across the country.
